Hello readers. I am Aisling Carson I’m 23 years old. I’m Irish and was born in Belfast and have lived here ever since with hopes to travel as soon as possible.
As far as I am aware I was always regarded as a fit, happy and somewhat healthy person. When I was a child I had a 6 pack- there is photos of it, it’s shocking, well defined abs you’d think i was a gymnast. But I was no older than 10 and it was gained solely from laughing or being my active self and that pretty much sums me up.
Likewise today, I am active, healthy and always ready for a laugh but it hasn’t always been this way. From about secondary school on wards, I remember always feeling sick, but it wasn’t until I was 17 that I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. 3 years after being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis I had emergency surgery to remove my large intestine.
My life today with an ileostomy bag is completely contrary to the life I lived a few years ago, the removal of my large intestine removed majority of my pain and symptoms and I feel that I am now in a good place to share my experiences, educate people and bring hope to those going through similar things.
